She was the widow of N. A. Jacobsen, early Payette pioneer, who introduced the fruit industry to this section of Idaho. In 1884 Mr. Jacobsen purchases the home property in this city and that year made a trip to Germany and on his return he brought a number of apple trees, forming the nucleus of the industry which has contributed so much to the prosperity of this entire area. Mr. Jacobsen shipped the first carload of prunes out of this city in 1891. He passed away in 1933. Mrs. Jacobsen had been a resident of Payette for 61 years, coming here shortly after her marriage at Idaho City. At the time of her death she was probably the owner of more business property in this city than any other individual. Except for a weak heart of long standing, Mrs. Jacobsen was in normal health up to the time of her death. She had been around the home as usual Saturday when stricken and was found by her daughter, Mrs. Arma steele. The body laid in state at the family home Tuesday morning and funeral services were held at St. James’ Episcopal church at two o’clock that afternoon with the Landon Funeral home in charge, Rev. Robert Echols officiated and Mrs. Raymond Hughes rendered a vocal solo. Interment was made in Riverside cemetery. Mrs. Jacobsen is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Arma Steele, who was staying with her at the time of her death, and Mrs. Belle Sur of Payette; one son, Arno, a dentist at American Falls; four grandchildren, Mrs. Russell Moulton of Payette, Mrs. Paul Huschke of long Beach, Calif., Noland Jacobsen of Montana and Miss Wilma Jacobsen of Los Angeles; and six great-grandchildren. A son, Carl P. Jacobsen, died in 1921. A daughter, Ollie Jacobsen, passed away on Nov. 29, 1896.
