For several years she has been in failing health and a short time ago was taken with heart trouble which brought to her intense suffering which she bore with utmost patience. While she lived to a ripe age of more than four score years, her passing from this life brings sadness to many and her thoughtful kind words and cheerful disposition which was characteristic of her life will be missed by those with whom she met to lend a word of cheer. Even in her declining years and feeble health, she could always see the bright side of life and always ready to give encouragement to others. In early life she became converted to the cause of Christ and cast her lot with the German Lutheran church, to which faith she followed closely to the last. She was born in Tria Germany, October 13, 1847 and departed this life at Payette, Idaho May 4, 1929 at the age of 81 years and 7 months. She came to America when 25 years of age and was united in marriage to August Jacobsen at Boise, Idaho, in the year 1877, and after spending two years at Idaho City, came to Payette, (then Boomerang), and settled a homestead three miles east of town, where they remained until 1883, when they moved to Payette. Mr. Jacobsen at that time started the first meat market in this part of Idaho, which supplied a large territory throughout this section. After a number of years, he sold out to Chris Henrichsen and moved back to the ranch east of town, and in 1902 they again moved to Payette which has since been their home. Mr. Jacobsen preceded her in death while spending the winter at Long Beach, California, February 26, 1920. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Lester C. Seawell of Payette, one step- son Arthur Jacobsen of Mackey, Idaho. She is also survived by one brother C. F. Asmussen and one sister, Mrs. Lee Young, both of Payette, and one granddaughter, Leslie Seawell of Payette. Funeral services were held from the home Monday afternoon at 3:00 o’clock, conducted by Rev. Newman, a former pastor of the German Lutheran church of Payette, now of Kellogg, Idaho, where the many beautiful floral offerings gave evidence of the love and high regard for the departed friend. Six nephews served as pall bearers and interment too place in Riverside cemetery.
