James was born in Berryville, Arkansas, March 17, 1852, and passed away at the home of her daughter Mrs. Emory Hill, Monday afternoon, April 28, at 4 o'clock following a lingering illness of pneumonia. She moved to Harney county, Oregon 39 years ago, where she lived until 5 years ago when she came to make her home with Mr. and Mrs. Hill. She leaves to mourn her loss six daughters, Mrs. J. B. Rice of Stites, Idaho; Mrs. J. O. Alberson of Andrews, Oregon; Mrs. Joe Clark of Harney, Oregon; Mrs. Luther Tudor and Mrs. Hugh Tudor of Andrews, Oregon and Mrs. Emory Hill of Fruitland; two sisters, Mrs. Edna Hood of Chico, California and Mrs. T. B. Biggerstaff of Payette; four brothers, I. A. Whiteley and Sam Whiteley of Payette; B. M. Whiteley of Council and Wilbur Whitelay of Arlington, Oregon, besides grand children, great grand children, and a host of friends. Mr. and Mrs. Hill left Tuesday morning with the body for Harney county for burial.
