Interment followed in Riverside Cemetery, Payette. Mr. Josephson, a produce man and a former mayor of Payette, was born July 1, 1895, at Pueblo, Colo., son of John and Johannah Hendrickson Josephson. At the age of nine, he moved with his family to Pingree, Idaho. He married Adele Carrier on Dec. 27, 1916, at Pocatello. They made their home in Blackfoot where he farmed until 1939 when they moved to New Plymouth. In 1943, he with his son, Lynn, began operation of a potato packing shed at Fruitland, operating it until 1945 when they started a produce business in Payette. In 1952, Lynn purchased his father’s interest in the business. Leonard then operated Josephson Spud House in Payette until 1965 when it was also purchased by his son. He continued to remain active by running a second-hand store and assisting his son in the produce business. Adele died in 1979. He then married Jackie Alexander on Aug. 15, 1979 at Payette. He retired from business in the fall of 1985. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Payette; Masonic Lodge, Payette; and El Korah Shrine Temple, Boise, where he was a member of the Temple Clown Unit. He served on the board of governors of the Shrine Hospital in Portland for 14 years. He was instrumental in taking children from Payette County to the Shrine Circus for 29 years. He acted as Santa Claus at Christmas time for children in Payette for a number of years. He was a member and chairman at the time of his death of the Payette Senior Citizens. He was also a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge, Payette. Survivors include his wife, Jackie of Payette; a son, Lynn of Payette; a daughter, Lois Leavengood of Albany, Ore.; two step-daughters, Maloa Trees of Ontario and Marinell Scott of Auburn, Wash.; a step-son, Lee Alexander of Sacramento, Calif.; two brothers, Oliver of Middleton and Ernest of Pingree; two sisters, Signa Owens of Medford, Ore., and Alice Myers of Blackfoot; four grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A sister, Hilda Naillon, died earlier. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Shrine Clown Unit of the El Korah Temple.
