Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, New Plymouth with Pastor Susan Howe officiating. Burial will follow at Park View Cemetery, New Plymouth. Carrie was born Dec. 17, 1904, the second child of George and Lora Barker at their home on Big Willow near New Plymouth. Carrie attended the McFarlane School. This necessitated a two mile horse back or buggy ride until her father built a school close to their home. She attended school in Payette for a short time and graduated from New Plymouth High School in 1925. After graduation, she raised turkeys on her father's ranch, rode horseback and herded them with the help of a dog. She sold 187 birds one year, quite an accomplishment for a young lady. Carrie met Ray Knight at a church party and they were married Aug. 28, 1928, by Ray's grandfather, the Rev. Henry Knight. They settled on a farm near New Plymouth. Carrie always had a very productive garden and loved flowers, especially dahlia's, which she enjoyed sharing. She was a member of the Congregational Church, an important part of her life. She taught Sunday school, played the piano and sang in the choir. In 1990, she was awarded a certificate of recognition for contributions to the heritage of the New Plymouth area. Survivors include her husband, Ray of New Plymouth; a daughter and son-in-law, Bessie and Bob Skinner of Boise; two grandchildren, Kathryn and Ross Oyen of Boise, and Jon and Shanin Skinner of New Plymouth, two stepgreat- grandchildren, Julie and Jess Johnson, a nephew, Darrel Barker, and a niece, Darlene Curry. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Craten and Clifford Barker, and one sister Helen Wood. Memorials may be made to the New Plymouth Congregational Church, in care of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, P.O. Box 730, Payette, ID 83661. Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, New Plymouth.
