Lattig passed away Saturday, May 13, at his home on Oregon Slope. Mr. Lattig was born May 18th, 1859, in Orangeville, Illinois. Orangeville, Lanark and Dakota, Illinois claimed his boyhood years. In 1876 his father’s family went to Anita, Iowa, where he with his father and an older brother engaged in the mercantile business. In 1903 he came to Idaho and was one of the early orchardists north of Payette. A few years later he sold his Idaho orchards and having bought land across the Snake river in Oregon, planted orchards on what is known as the “Oregon Slope” and built himself a home there, where he lived until the winter of 1933 when ill health overtook him and on the early morning of May 13th he passed away leaving one sister, Mrs. M. D. Reed of Syracuse, New York, and three brothers of Payette, Cyrus J. Elmer F. and Charles P. and their families to mourn his loss. Mr. Lattig has many close friends in Iowa, Idaho and Oregon who greatly regret that he is no longer among us. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the C. J. Lattig home in Payette, with Rev. C. O. Heath officiating. Interment was made in Riverside cemetery.
