PAYETTE:  Vollie "Whitey" Laytham, 83, Payette, a retired laborer, died Dec. 
2, 1988, in an Ontario hospital.  Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. 
Tuesday at Riverside Cemetery, Payette.  Rev. Earl Traughber, Church of the 
Brethren, Fruitland, will officiate, under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen 
Memory Chapel, Payette.

He was born Nov. 15, 1905, at Bird City, Tenn.  He was raised in Tennessee and 
Oklahoma.  He left home as a young man, and worked at numerous locations in 
the northwest, including working on the hangars for the Dirigibles in 
Tillamook during World War II.  Whitey was married twice.  He was a charter 
member of the International Order of Old Bastards Payette Chapter #4024.
 
Survivors include a host of friends in Payette and surrounding areas.
