S. LYLES Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at the Methodist church in Ontario for Mrs. C. S. Lyles, who died at her home near Payette on Friday, March 20, 1936. Clara B. Eble was born at Naverly, Ill, Dec. 1, 1871. Her girlhood was spent in Central Illinois. She attended the Illinois Wesleyan Univeristy at Bloomington, also Denver University and finished her education at the Northwestern University. After teaching two years, she was united in marriage to Charles S. Lyles, in 1892. Mr. Lyles was a Methodist minister and served the pastorate at Meadows and Albion, Idaho being connected with the Albion Normal at that time. They were transferred to the Illinois Conference, in 1911 they transferred to the Iowa Conference and later to the South Dakota Conference from which they retired in 1929, moving then to Ontario where Rev. Lyles passed away that same year. During her life in this community, she has taken an active part in the Methodist church, Eastern Star and Women’s clubs. Beside her three children, Edith L. Shoemaker, Ralph C. Lyles and Reginald A. Lyles, she is survived by one brother, Joseph D. Eble of Mount Pleasant, Iowa, and four grandchildren. Burial was in the Ontario cemetery with the Eastern Star lodge in charge of the services at the grave.
