Former Area Resident Dies In California

Services for Mrs. Gertrude Melcher Lynn, 76, Alhambra, Calif, a former 
Fruitland resident, who died Sunday in Alhambra, will be at 2 p.m., Thursday 
at the Shaffer Chapel in Payette with the Rev. Earl H. Traughber officiating. 
Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Payette.

She was born March 18, 1889, in Castalia, S.D., and she moved to Fruitland in 
1901. She was married to James Lynn on Dec. 21, 1919. He died in 1950 and in 
1952 she moved to Alhambra, where she since had resided. 

She was a member of the First Methodist Church and the Royal Neighbors of 
America for 53 years.

Surviving her are a daughter, Mrs. James Ash, Claremont, Calif.; a 
stepdaughter, Mrs. Edith Bigsby, Glendora, Calif.; a brother, Ira Melcher, 
Fruitland; a sister, Mrs. Edith Boor, Fruitland; seven grandchildren and 12 
great-grandchildren.
