PROMINENT LADY DIES ON MONDAY
 
Mrs. John R. McKinney Native of County, Passes At Ontario
 
Mrs. John R. McKinney, prominent local matron, member of a pioneer family and 
a native of Payette county, passed away at the Ontario hospital on Monday, 
September 23rd following an illness of some duration.  Funeral services have 
been arranged for to-day, Thursday, at St. James Episcopal church, with Rev. 
C. L. Callahan, Ontario in charge.  Special music has been arranged with Mrs. 
Bernard Eastman as soloist and Mrs. Geo. L. Whorton, accompanist.  Interment 
will be made in Riverside cemetery with Landon's in charge of arrangements.
 
Dora Wilson McKinney was born in Payette county, January 14, 1887 and has 
resided in this section since that time.  During her lifetime in the county 
deceased was prominent in civic work and to her efforts in connection with 
other local women leaders the new library building was constructed in Central 
park, an excellent monument to their civic enterprise.  She was affiliated 
with Portia club for many years, was at one time president of the Payette 
county republican women's league, Dorion Chapter, D. A. R. and Chapter C. P. 
E.O. having served at the head of both organizations.  Mrs. McKinney was a 
charter member of Chapter C.  She was also a member of St. James Episcopal 
church of this city.
 
Beside her husband, County Commissioner, John R. McKinney, deceased is 
survived by one son, Robert, a grand daughter, mother, Mrs. Mary Wilson, all 
of Payette and one brother, Allen Wilson, of Vale, Oregon.
