Fruitland - Services for Ira O. Melcher, 84, Fruitland, who died Saturday at a 
Payette nursing home will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Payette 
Shaeffer-Jensen Chapel by the Rev. Earl Traughber.  Interment will be in 
Riverside Cemetery, Payette.
 
He was born August 10, 1891 in Sulpher Springs, Iowa.  He moved with his 
family in 1894 to Nebraska.  In 1902 he moved to Idaho.  He attended schools 
at Fruitland.  He married Katherine Klyde Kaessner, April 8, 1914 in Weiser.  
He farmed in the Fruitland area until retiring in 1960.  
 
Surviving are three sons, Gerald R. and William I. both of Fruitland, and 
Lewis R., England; two daughters, Rachael L. Hanson, Fruitland and Mildred V. 
Schlarbaum, Leon, Iowa; 15 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and several 
nieces and nephews.
 
He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
