Melcher, 72, longtime Fruitland residence who died in her home Saturday, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel of Payette, with the Rev. Grace M. Weaver of First Methodist Church in Fruitland officiating. Interment will be at Riverside. Mrs. Melcher was born October 30, 1895, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She grew up and attended schools in Colorado Springs, coming to Fruitland in 1913. She was married to Ira O. Melcher in Weiser on April 8, 1914. They moved to their farm southeast of Fruitland that year. She was a member of Royal Neighbors of America. Survivors in addition to her husband, include 3 sons, William and Gerald R. of Fruitland, and Sgt. Lewis R. Melcher with the U.S. Air Force at Rickmansworth, England; two daughters, Mrs. Albert (Rahcel) Hanson of Fruitland and Mrs Dale (Mildred) Schlarbaum of Garden Grove, Iowa; a Sister, Mrs Irene Creech of Springfield, Colorado; 15 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. 5 brothers and 2 sisters preceded her in death.
