Drowned in the Owyhee

A special of July 21 to the Statesman says: Reuben Morton, one of the best 
known cattlemen in Eastern Oregon, was drowned yesterday afternoon in the 
Owyhee river about 40 miles from Ontario. Mr. Morton and his nephew were 
engaged swimming a small band of cattle across the river and followed them in, 
Edwards being in the lead. When the opposite bank was nearly reached he heard 
a cry from Morton and upon turning around to learn the cause. Morton had 
disappeared from view. The body has not been recovered. He was a son of Leo 
Morton and was aged 24 years.
