ELMO G. NELSON


PAYETTE-Rosary for Elmo G. Nelson, 65, Payette, who died of natural causes 
Friday at home were recited Sunday at Payette Holy Family Catholic Church.  
Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated Monday morning at the Holy Family 
Catholic Church by Fr. Patrick Phelan.  Interment followed in Riverside 
Cemetery.

He was born Aug. 19, 1911, at Emmett.  He moved with his parents to the Nampa 
area, where he graduated from St. Paul’s High School. He married Velda Strong 
March 17, 1934, at Nampa.  In 1935, they moved to Boise, where he worked with 
Olsen Mfg.; Sawtooth Co, and the Idaho Sheet Metal Co.  In 1949, they moved to 
Payette, where he founded Nelson Sheet Metal Corp., of which he was president.  

Surviving are his wife and two sons, Bill and Gene, all Payette; two daughters, 
Mrs. Lon (Marie) Robinette, Payette, and Mrs. Terry (Norma) Sigfrit, The 
Dalles, Ore.; three sisters, Mrs. Don (Gladys) Donaldson, Boise, Mrs. Ed 
(Helen) Hall, Payette, and Mrs. Tom (Virginia) Langston, Spring Valley, Calif.; 
12 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by 
his parents and two brothers.
