Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Shaffer-Jensen memory Chapel, Payette, with Dr. Leonard Reifel, Pastor Emeritus of St. John's United Church of Christ, Payette, officiating, with Washoe Lodge #28 A.F. & A. M. participating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Payette. He was born Aug. 19, 1896, at Falk, Idaho the son of John Franklin and Mary Jane Stuart Nesbitt. He attended grade school at McFarland District No 20, Canyon County, graduated from Payette High School in 1914, and from Oregon State College in 1918 with a degree in Business. In June of 1918, he enlisted in the United States Army, served in France until his discharge in July of 1919. He taught high school for four years in Eagle and New Plymouth. On June 1, 1922, he married Lizzie Dyson in Boise. She died in August of 1922. He and Leta Meacham were married Nov. 24, 1927, at Weiser. His entire life was spent in the New Plymouth, Payette, Weiser area in farming and ranching until his retirement. He also owned and operated the Cash Feed Store in Payette from 1930 to 1935. Clarence loved to reminisce about events in his life and in his words "I'm an independent cuss". He was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity, an over 50 year member and Past Master of Washoe Lodge #28 A.F. & A.M., Payette, an over 50 year member of the Odd Fellows Lodge #22, Payette, the Scottish Rite of Boise, Snake River Shrine Club of Ontario, Payette Shrine Club, the American Legion Post #107 having served as Past 9th District Commander, the Farm Bureau, and the Senior Citizens. Survivors include two sons, Stuart Nesbitt of Seattle, and Gene Nesbitt of West Caldwell, N.J.; a daughter, Leta Johnson of Fruitland, seven grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Leta, four brothers, a sister and a grandson. Memorials may be made to the Idaho Youth Ranch, the Disabled American Veterans or your favorite charity, in care of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, P.O. Box 730, Payette, ID 83661.
