Leta Meacham Nesbitt
 
Leta Meacham Nesbitt, 95, Payette, formerly of Weiser and New Plymouth, died 
Jan. 5, 1992, at home.  Services were 2 p.m. Jan. 7 at Shaffer-Jensen Memory 
Chapel, Payette, Dr. Leonard Reifel, Weiser, officiated.  Burial followed at 
Riverside Cemetery, Payette.
 
She was born Aug. 7, 1896, at Prescott, Iowa, the daughter of Herbert and Ella 
Robinson Meacham.  The family moved to Weiser in the early 1900's where she 
was educated, graduating from Weiser High School with the class of 1914.  She 
graduated from Oregon State University in 1918 and received a Master's Degree 
from Columbia University and taught school in Oregon, Idaho and Missouri.  On. 
Nov. 24, 1927, she married Clarence S. Nesbitt at Weiser.  They lived at New 
Plymouth and Weiser, moving to Payette in 1978.
 
She was a member of the Weiser Community Church, Payette Senior citizens, a 50 
year member of Lorraine Chapter #20 Order of Eastern Star, past district 
president of the American Legion Auxiliary of New Plymouth and Pi Beta Phi 
Sorority.
 
Survivors include her husband, Clarence Nesbitt of Payette, two sons, Stuart 
Nesbitt of West Caldwell, N.J.; a daughter Leta Johnson of Fruitland, seven 
grandchildren and three stepgrandchildren.  She was preceded in death by a 
brother and a grandson.
 
Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children or the 
Idaho Youth Ranch, in care of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, P.O. Box 730, 
Payette 83661.
