She was born July 26, 1876, in Prairie City, Oregon. She later lived at Manns Creek, Idaho, and Weiser. She was a member of Payette high school's second graduating class in 1896. She was married in Weiser October 23, 1902, to A. Lloyd Pence. Mrs. Pence was a member of the Methodist Church, PEO, Eastern Star, of which she was a past matron, Portia Club, XYZ Club and Tennets Club. Surviving Mrs. Pence are her husband, A. L. Pence; 3 sons, Peter M. of San Lorenzo, California; Major Albert L. Jr., of Fort Bragg, North Caroline and Jack P., of Payette; 4 daughters, Mrs. Pauline Romig of Eugene, Mrs. Katherine Nelson of Chevy Chase, Maryland; Mrs. Gladys Welker of Washington, D. C., and Mrs. Margaret Hathaway of Drain, Oregon; 1 brother, Chester Taylor of Weiser; 2 sisters, Mrs. Emma Lauer of Alhambra, California and Mrs. Mary Hinze of Berkeley, California; and 13 grand children. She was preceded in death by one sister and 1 brother. Services are pending at Shaffer Memory Chapel.
