Mrs. Pence Died In Hospital Here
 
PAYETTE -- Mrs. Carrie Effie Pence, age 75, passed away early Thursday a.m. at 
the Ontario hospital.  She was born July 26, 1876, in Prairie City, Oregon.  
She later lived at Manns Creek, Idaho, and Weiser.  She was a member of 
Payette high school's second graduating class in 1896.  She was married in 
Weiser October 23, 1902, to A. Lloyd Pence.
 
Mrs. Pence was a member of the Methodist Church, PEO, Eastern Star, of which 
she was a past matron, Portia Club, XYZ Club and Tennets Club.
 
Surviving Mrs. Pence are her husband, A. L. Pence; 3 sons, Peter M. of San 
Lorenzo, California; Major Albert L. Jr., of Fort Bragg, North Caroline and 
Jack P., of Payette; 4 daughters, Mrs. Pauline Romig of Eugene, Mrs. Katherine 
Nelson of Chevy Chase, Maryland; Mrs. Gladys Welker of Washington, D. C., and 
Mrs. Margaret Hathaway of Drain, Oregon; 1 brother, Chester Taylor of Weiser; 
2 sisters, Mrs. Emma Lauer of Alhambra, California and Mrs. Mary Hinze of 
Berkeley, California; and 13 grand children.  She was preceded in death by one 
sister and 1 brother.  Services are pending at Shaffer Memory Chapel.
