Edward W. Pierce
 
Funeral services for Edward William Pierce, 75, Payette, who died Thursday at 
a Boise hospital were held Monday at the Shaffer-Jensen Memory chapel in 
Payette.
 
The Rev. Palmer Wylde of the St. James Episcopal church in Payette 
officiated.  Interment, with military honors, was at Riverside cemetery in 
Payette.
 
Born February 25, 1893, in Butte, Mont., he grew up in that area and served 
with the infantry during World War I in France.  Upon returning from military 
service, he was employed on a survey crew for the Bureau of Reclamation on the 
Flathead Project in Montana.  Then he transferred to the Black Canyon Dam 
Project near Emmett.  He married M. Lauretta Green at Payette on August 31, 
1923.  They lived in Emmett for a number of years before moving to eastern 
Oregon.  In 1929, they settled in Payette.  During World War II, he worked at 
Camp Adair near Salem, Ore.  They later returned to Payette, where he worked 
for a department store until retirement.  Mrs. Pierce died in 1962.  Mr. 
Pierce was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Episcopal church.
 
Surviving are two sons, Robert Lee Pierce of Salem and Edward W. Pierce, Jr., 
of Riverside, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Chapel of Ontario and Mrs. 
Mary Burak of Boise; two sisters, Mrs. Nellie Deeters of Portland and Mrs. 
Annie Kerwerda of Everett, Wash., 15 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, 
and several nieces and nephews.
