Pomeroy NEW PLYMOUTH - Services for Stephen Loren Pomeroy, 85, of New Plymouth, who died Thursday at an Ontario hospital, were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the New Plymouth Shaffer-Jensen Memory chapel by the Rev. Earl Traughber of the New Plymouth Congregational Church. Interment followed at Park View. Mr. Pomeroy was born Aug. 5, 1888, at Dunreath, Iowa. He attended schools in Iowa and earned a civil engineering degree from Iowa State College. He was a civil engineer for the Northern Pacific Railroad Grand Trunk Pacific Railroad of Canada. In 1913, he moved to New Plymouth and homesteaded near Falks Store. He married Mabel Evelyn McFarland at New Plymouth on Nov. 29, 1917. He took over management of the McFarland ranch that year and bought his own ranch in 1934. In 1948 he retired and moved into New Plymouth. He was a member of the Congregational Church of New Plymouth. He had been a commissioner for Highway District 2 and a Payette County commissioner for 26 years. He had served several years on the Payette County Fair Board and was past master of New Plymouth Grange 250. He had been a lay delegate in the general council of the Congregational Christian Church on two occasions. He was a member of the New Plymouth Chamber of Commerce. Survivors are his wife, New Plymouth; a son, George W, Cincinnati, Ohio; three daughters, Mrs. R.V. (Ruth) Talbot, Camarillo, Calif, Mrs. John G. (Fern) Anderson, Boise and Carol J. Pomeroy, Bonners Ferry; nine grandchildren and a great-grandchild. The family suggests memorials to the New Plymouth Congregational Church Memorial Fund or flowers may be sent.
