Roberts, 90, died Saturday in Payette, 47 years after he had moved into the area from Boise. He had been one of the more active pioneers in the community, and gained recent fame for his performance in golf tournaments. Despite his age, Mr. Roberts won several matches against younger opponents on the links. He was born Sept. 7, 1862 in Lee County, Iowa and moved to Idaho in 1898. He also lived in Western, Nebraska before coming west. Surviving are two daughters, Miss Elsie Roberts of Payette and Mrs. Dorothy Loughrey of Boise, and two sons, Ralph of Albany, Ore. and Verle of Boise. The Bishop Frank Rhea officiated at funeral services held Tuesday morning in the St. James Episcopal church in Payette. Interment followed at Morris Hill cemetery in Boise under the direction of the Shaffer Memory chapel of Payette.
