J. J. Rogers, a former Payette lawyer and widely known in this community, committed suicide at his home in Boise about 2:30 yesterday morning by shooting himself through the head with a revolver. The unfortunate occurrence took place in Mr. Rogers room. Mrs. Rogers was present and did all in her power to avert the catastrophe by pleading with her husband not to commit the rash act but it was in vain. The Statesman says that for many months past Mr. Rogers had been troubled with insomnia and at times his mind seemed to have given way under the strain of worries by day and sleeplessness by night. As will be remembered Mr. Rogers attempted suicide a number of months ago by jumping into the Chicago river while in Chicago but was rescued. Previous to going to Boise Mr. Rogers lived in Payette and while here was elected as a representative in the Fourth session of the legislature from Canyon county.
