M. Satoris Of Payette, Dies From Heart Attack; Had Lived Here Forty-Five Years The entire community was shocked Monday morning to learn of the death of F. M. Satoris, Payette city treasurer, at 6 o’clock Monday evening. It was reported that he died suddenly of a heart attack and that he had apparently been in excellent health up to that time of his death. Mr. Satoris was one of Payette’s pioneers, having served as mayor for several terms, owned a shoe store here and during his 45 years residence in Payette had taken an active part in the betterment of the town. He was the first mayor when the town was incorporated in 1901. Francis M. Satoris was born in Milwaukee, Mich. February 11, 1865 and when yet a child he and his sister were left orphans and were educated by their uncle in Metz, France. In 1891 he came to the village of Payette which was then a small settlement that was one of the west’s rapidly advancing towns. He gave much of his time and effort to the development of Payette. He was united in marriage with Miss Belle Pence, who was born and reared in Payette, on September 11, 1894. The large brick house now owned by J. C. Palumbo was built by Mr. Satoris and was their home for many years. Two children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Satoris, Fred of Seattle, Wash. and Harlene, who passed away in 1928. Fred Satoris was in Payette from Seattle to attend the funeral of his father. During the past several years Mr. Satoris retired from active business, although he had served as city treasurer for the past four years, and had watched further progress of Payette beyond the accomplishments made by himself and other Payette pioneers. Mr. Davidson of the Christian Science church of Boise read the service held from the Landon funeral home Wednesday morning at 1 o’clock. Interment was made in the Riverside cemetery. The funeral home was crowded with many of the friends of Mr. Satoris who gathered to pay a last tribute to him. Large banks of flowers filled the funeral home and covered the grave. Relatives from out-of-town who came to attend the funeral besides his son were Mrs. Satoris’ brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Rex Bradshaw of Wendell, Idaho, and Mrs. Lloyd Pence and Mrs. Albert Pence both of Spokane, Wash.
