Schleppegrell Funeral services will be conducted today (Thursday) at 2 pm. for Cora Pearl Schleppegrell, 85, Payette, who died Sunday at the Casa Loma Convalescent Center. The Rev. Edward Hargreaves of the First United Methodist church will officiate. Interment, under the direction of the Payette Chapel of the Roses will be at Rosedale Memorial Gardens. She was born March 12, 1895 at Saybrook, Ill. She was married in 1904 to Leslie E. Dillingham in Gibson City, Ill. Mr. and Mrs. Dillingham came to Mackay, Idaho, and published the Mackay Miner until his death in 1932. Mrs. Dillingham was appointed director of the Bureau of Vital Statistics by Gov. Ben Ross and served in that capacity for six years. In the final year of her service, she was given a leave of absence to take a course in public health at the University of Michigan and upon her return was appointed superintendent of the school hot lunch program. She served in this capacity for two years. She was married to J. C. Schleppegrell of Bellflower, Calif., in 1940 in Boise. The couple returned to Mackay to publish the Mackay Miner. They later published the Judith County Press at Stanford, Mont., Mineral Independent at Superior, Mont., and other papers in Montana and North Dakota before coming to Payette. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Superior, Mont., the Eastern Star, Mary Baldwin Chapter, No. 87, in superior; and a charter member of the Women's club in Mackay. She is survived by her husband, Julius Schleppegrell, Payette; a stepson, Julius C. Schleppegrell, Jr., of San Jose, Calif.; one brother, James E. Goodman of San Jacinto, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Dave Burnett of Boise, and Mrs. Flora Allen of Winterset, Ia. She was preceded in death by her son, Dudley Dillingham, in 1961.
