Smith Nettie Elizabeth Smith, 80, Ontario died Aug. 2, 1991, in a Payette nursing home. Services were 10 a.m. Aug. 6 at Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette, Pastor Paul C. Gering of the Ontario Assembly of God Church officiated. Burial followed at Riverside Cemetery at Payette. Mrs. Smith was born Oct. 11, 1910 at Gooding, a daughter of Forrest and Laura Carpenter. She moved with her family to La Grande as a child. She married Eugene Smith on Dec. 24, 1942, at Vancouver, Wash. They moved to Ontario in 1946. Gene Died on Nov. 1, 1986. Nettie was a member of Ontario's Assembly of God Church. She loved going to church. Survivors include a brother, Ralph Carpenter, Puyallup, Wash.; four sisters, Mrs. Mary Hayter of La Grande, Mrs. Annie Cosner of Elgin, Mrs. Dorothy Lockner of Fruitland, and Mrs. Alice Wilson of Boise, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene, parents and a brother, Clyde Carpenter.
