Snowberger Dies On Friday David H. Snowberger, one of the pioneer residents of this city passed away at his home on Eighth street Friday of last week. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at Landon's Funeral home with Rev. Hollinger of Fruitland in charge. Deceased was born at Huntington, Indiana, May 18, 1863 and he lived there until he went to Carrington, N. Dakota in 1897. He resided in North Dakota until 1900 when he moved to this city, where he has since resided. Mr. Snowberger at one time was superintendent of masonry work for the Erie, Pennsylvania Railroad in the Western Division which extended from Salino, Ohio and extended west. He was married to Miss Rose Hults of Huntington, Indiana and the family consists of four sons, Howard H. of Corvallis, Ore., Ernest of Los Angeles, Cal., Fred of Eugene, Ore., and Merritt of Payette; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. During his residence in Payette Mr. Snowberger was quite a sportsman and was influential in securing 10,000 catfish which were planted in the Washoe Slough and undoubtedly furnished the basis for the excellent fishing in that locality at the present time. He has a most unusual display of polished rock, which he has traveled many miles over the countryside in collecting. This display has been willed to the city of Payette on the condition that quarters be furnished and that the display not be located more than two blocks from the courthouse for two blocks from the post office. He was a charter member of the local Brethren church and has served as a deacon in that institution for the past thirty years, having joined the church when he was 18 years of age.
