F. Stirm of Payette died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Katherine Johnson, Longview, Washington, Tuesday, June 3rd, 1930. Mrs. Stirm, formerly Veronika Polpelka, was born in Vienna, Austria-Hungary, February 2, 1867. She came to Payette in 1889 and married W. F. Stirm of this city, New Years Day, 1890. To this union was born four children, two daughters, Mrs. Marie Moss, of New Plymouth, Mrs. Katherine Johnson of Longview, Wash., and two sons, William E. of Fruitland and Fred J. of Payette, all of whom survive her, together with their father, W. F. Stirm. She is also survived by a sister, Mrs. John Christenson of San Francisco who, with her son, Herbert, was here for the funeral which took place Friday, June 6 under the direction of Father Gallahue of the local Catholic church. Interment was in the Riverside cemetery. Mrs. Stirm was well known here. She was a very highly educated woman and could speak seven different languages fluently. Before coming to America, she was for a number of years the Queen's First Lady in Waiting at the Court of Austria-Hungary. She was greatly respected in this community and her many friends will regret her passing.
