W. Tracey, died last Friday a few minutes after she was taken to St. Josephine hospital at Weiser. She had been suffering for several months with inflammatory rheumatism which had bent and twisted her little limbs, but it was not from this that she died. Her death was the result of a deformity which seems to be the only case known to medical science. An autopsy revealed that the colon or large bowel, which should have been almost four times the size of the small bowels, was even smaller than they and seems not to have grown at all. This was the third severe attack of obstruction of the bowels which she had had. The first one occurred about two years ago when she was taken to a hospital and recovered. Last December she had another attack and she was made ready to be taken to a hospital again and while her parents and physicians were waiting for a delayed train she suddenly got better and recovered at home. The last attack which came on the day before she died was similar to the others. Her physician knew the cause of the trouble was an obstruction of the bowels but he could not fathom it, as she was continually having trouble between the severe attacks. The more he studied the case the more complexing it became. So when the child, who was only four years, a month and five days of age, died Dr. Avey, who had waited on her since her birth, asked that he be permitted to hold an autopsy. "A good many anatomical anomalies crop out yet there is no similar case in medical literature," said Dr. Avey. He said the little girl never could have grown up as there could have been no remedy even if she had undergone operations. The people of Payette sympathize with Mr. and Mrs. Tracey, who have lived here for a good many years and have many friends. The funeral was held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the Baptist church, Rev. White officiating.
