Earl Traughber, Fruitland Church of the Brethren, interment followed in Parkview Cemetery, New Plymouth. Violett, who died Friday in an Ontario hospital, was born Dec. 25, 1902, in New Rockford, N.D. He moved with his grandparents in Downey in 1909 and then to Boise in 1919, where he graduated from high school. He married Fern Campbell on June 7, 1931. He worked in the office of the Boise-Payette Lumber Co. for 20 years. While living in Boise, he was superintendent of Sunday School at Wright Community Congregational Church for many years and acted as a draftsman for the rebuilding of the church after a fire in 1940. He moved to Fruitland in 1945 where he owned and operated Violett Mercantile. He was elected the first president of the Fruitland Chamber of Commerce in 1947. He was instrumental through his work with the Chamber of Commerce in the incorporation of Fruitland as a city in 1948. He was the city clerk and served at City Hall for 19 years until his retirement in 1967. He was a member of the Fruitland Church of the Brethren. He is survived by his wife of Fruitland, one son, Byron Francis Violett of Long Beach, Calif.; two sisters, Jessie Lasich of Dillon, Mont., and Nellie Doornbos of Sheridan, Mont.; two brothers, Willis and Archie, both of Lothair, Mont.; and several nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials he made in the Fruitland Church of the Brethren.
