C. D. Bradley and James Davis, a nephew, were held form the Church of God Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 for H. S. Wayne, 84 who died at his home in Payette at noon Monday of this week. The Peterson Funeral Home had charge of the arrangements. Henry Samuel Wayne was born May 3, 1851, in Boydtown, Wis. On March 8, 1874, he was married to Weltha M. Powell. To this union were born five sons and three daughters. Four of these -- Minta, Sherman, Clarence, and Ernest -- had preceded him in death. Of his immediate relatives he is survived by his wife, two sons and two daughters, the latter being; Herbert C., Mrs. Mary Rupp, Henry S., and Mrs. Gertie Boyer. Also there are three brothers; Clarence F., and Thomas A., of Payette; Newton of St. Collins, Colo., and Mrs. Elizabeth Gardner of Grand Valley, Colo. Of grandchildren there are twenty, and eight great grandchildren. Shortly after his marriage Mr. Wayne changed his residence from Wisconsin to western Nebraska, where he and his family pioneered with the earliest settlers. Many years later they again moved westward, this time to western Colorado. From that state the family came to Idaho, where they have lived for about thirty years. Mr. Wayne was converted in 1878 in a church of the United Brethren. In 1883 he became a member of the Church of God with which he was affiliated until his death. He departed this life on the 24th of February, having attained the ripe age of eighty-four years, nine months and twenty-one days.
