He was the husband of the former Dona Fae Shepard of Payette. Weitzel disappeared in the cold waters of the reservoir August 12 during a boating party. His body was not recovered until last Saturday when it floated to the surface of the water. Divers and dragging operations had previously failed to find the victim. Mr. and Mrs. Weitzel had lived in Pendleton and Pasco the past few years while he was employed by the Standard Oil company. Also surviving are two young sons, Darryl and Gregory, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Weitzel of Weiser, and two brothers. He was a graduate of Ontario high school and a veteran of the U. S. Marine Corps. The Rev. Bert Iddins officiated at the funeral services. Interment was in the Riverside cemetery in Payette.
