Wells, Pioneer, Passes Mrs. Ella M. Wells, 76, a pioneer of this city since Boomerang days passed away at the family residence on Second Avenue South early Saturday morning. She was the widow of Will Wells, editor and publisher of the former Payette Enterprise, who preceded her in death in 1934. Funeral services were held at the Landon Funeral Home Tuesday afternoon with Mrs. A. B. Moss of the Christian Science church in charge. Mrs. Bernard Eastman was soloist and Miss Mary Duncan served as pianist. Pall bearers were A. B. Moss, Bernard Eastman, M. E. Zentist, Lloyd Pence, Clyde Thurston and Ralph Thurston. Interment was at Riverside cemetery under the direction of Landon’s Funeral Home. Mrs. Wells was born at Little Sioux, Iowa Sept. 2, 1870 and at the age of 13 drove with her parents overland to Payette which was then known as Boomerang. She made her residence here continuously from that time until her death. Deceased is survived by one son, Leo Ballenger, Payette; a daughter, Mrs. Fern Neal, Santa Cruz, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. H. E. Miller, of Seattle, Wash.; four brothers: Vet Conyers, Los Angeles, Calif., "Doc" Conyers, Rogue River, Ore., Rufus Conyers, Los Angeles, Calif., and John Conyers, of Arizona; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
