L. WELLS PASSES SUDDENLY SATURDAY IT was with deep regret and heart felt sympathy that the news came last Saturday morning that Bascom L. Wells, brother of Will Wells, editor of the Payette Enterprise, had answered the call that morning at three A. M. and passed from this life after only a short illness of only two weeks. The cause being due to heart failure. He was 72 years, 2 months and 19 days of age, having been born in Illinois on February 2, 1862. Mr. Wells was the son of Alexander Wells, a minister of the Christian church, and became a member of this faith himself over forty years ago, and affiliated with the Payette Church of Christ upon his arrival in the Payette Valley in 1899, where he has since made his home. On December 24, 1889, he and Miss Ida Spottswood were joined in marriage, to which one son was born, Fay C. Wells. He leaves to mourn his passing, his widow, one son, Fay C. Wells of Payette, two brothers, Sterling of Schaller, Iowa, and Will of Payette, also four grandchildren and a host of friends. Funeral services were held from the local Church of Christ, Tuesday at 2:30 p.m., Rev. Raymond Fite, officiating and interment was made in the family plot at Riverside cemetery. Miss Margaret Luther sang, “I’m a Child of the King,” and “Rock of Ages”, accompanied by Mrs. Charles Wilson at the piano.
