Young Geraldine D. Young, 74, Emmett, died Dec. 27, 1999, at an Emmett care center. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Rosedale Memorial Gardens in Payette, the Rev. John Anderson of the Payette First United Methodist Church officiating. Services are under the direction of Porter Funeral Chapel, Emmett. Geraldine was born on Sept. 27, 1925, in Payette. She attended Payette public schools where she met Bill Young. Bill and she were married in 1943, just prior to his entering the U.S. Navy for service during World War II. After the war, Geraldine worked at the University of Idaho supporting Bill's education as an accountant. They moved back to Payette where they began their family. After her husband's death in 1958, Geraldine worked as a secretary to support her family. Her last job was with the Payette County Extension Service as the secretary to the county agent. She retired from that position due to the progression of multiple sclerosis which she contracted in her early 20's. As her disease progressed, she went to live at the Emmett Care Center where she made many friends and courageously battled her disease. Geraldine enjoyed her family as well as painting, crocheting and knitting. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and Order of Eastern Star. She is survived by a son, Michael Young of Seattle, Wash.; a daughter, Susan Young Cummings, of Los Angeles, and a granddaughter, Rebecca Cummings, of New York City. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bill Young, her parents Aaron and Evelyn Walker and a brother, Robert A. Walker.
