N. D. ZEVIN DIES THURSDAY Well Known Local Dentis Buried In Payette Wednesday Dr. N. D. Zevin, well known local dentist, passed away last Thursday night at the Payette General hospital and funeral services were held on Thursday morning of this week. Dr. Zevin was taken ill on the Sunday previous and remained in his apartment until Thursday afternoon when he was taken to the Payette General hospital where he passed away about eleven o’clock. Dr. Zevin was well known throughout this section of Idaho and during his residence in this community since 1928 he has always been a staunch supporter of every civic enterprise, holding memberships in the Payette chamber of commerce and the Payette Kiwanis club. He was instrumental in promoting many local charity projects and gave much of his time to each of these enterprises. Dr. Zevin took greater pride in his profession and had one of the best equipped dental offices in this section of Idaho. He was a member of the American Dental Association, the Idaho State Dental Association and the Southwestern Idaho Dental Association. Little is known of the early life of Dr. Zevin aside from the fact that he was born in Russia and came to Canada while yet a young man. He received much of his dental education in Russia and practiced for a time in Canada before going to Omaha, Nebraska for a time and while in that city was married. He later went to Seattle, Washington and then came to Payette in 1928. The only known relatives are a daughter, Mrs. A. S. Mayer and a granddaughter. Mr. and Mrs. Mayer, of Omaha were present at the funeral. Funeral services were held on Tuesday morning at the Peterson Funeral home with Rev. Cecil Hannan of the local Methodist church in charge. Rev. Paul Felthouse gave two vocal selections and L. W. Brainard, District Governor of Kiwanis, gave an eulogy in which he made note of the many community enterprises in which the deceased had participated while a resident of Payette. Honorary pall bearers included Mayor J. A. McMillan, J. C. Palumbo, Vern Spaulding, Larry Layman, Clark Beamguard and Frank Arata, and active pall bearers were Milton Smith, George Sedlmayor, Wm. Blackby, Dr. V. V. Belnap, Fred Stanton, Jack Hanigan, Bill Meechan and E. H. Murphy. Interment was made in Riverside cemetery.
