James Alexander McMillan was born in Bracebridge, Canada on Dec. 16, 1873.  He 
married Emily Ann McEvoy at Sault St. Marie, Michigan in 1901.  They moved to 
Washington in 1910 and came to Payette in 1917.  J. A. McMillan was first 
associated with the Denny & Co. Fruit and then began his own packing and 
shipping business. 

J. A. McMillan served as one of Payette's Mayors, was a past president of the 
Chamber of Commerce and the Kiwanis club and also was county chairman for the 
American Red Cross during World War 1.
