Platt Chase. This couple was very instumental in the oraganization of early Payette clubs and businesses. Mr. Chase was active in the Idaho Grand Lodge, Masonic Lodge and had a large producing orchard. In 1885, he was placed in charge of the Union Pacific depot in Payette, from which he resigned in 1892, entering into the Payette Valley Mercantile Co. He retired in 1909. He died in 1936. Mrs. Chase was very active in the organization of the St. James Episcopal church in Payette. She was also one of the charter members of the Portia Club, of which she served as President. She was the last charter member of that club at the time of her death in 1944.
