The Washoe Ferry is believed to be the first ferry located on the Snake River.  
Its original location was about a quarter mile below the Malheur river on the 
old Oregon Trail.  The ferry was the direct line of travel between Payette, 
formerly Boomerang, and Ontario, Oregon.
