A SURPRISE WEDDING
 
Miss Esther Clark, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Clark, was married 
Sunday afternoon to Mr. Emery J. Henry, Rev. M. D. Reed officiating.  We were 
all thinking of her as a high school girl, but Mr. Henry, who is homesteading 
over in Washington county, had a different think.  He had a notion that Mrs. 
Henry would sound better than "Senior" and somehow got her to think the same 
way.
 
His father, mother and brother Clarence, drove down from their home at Milton, 
Oregon, for the wedding.  The bride's sister, Mrs. Linprecht, with her husband 
and baby boy, were also present from their home in Washington county.
 
It was Mr. Henry's first public appearance in Payette and being on such an 
errand we looked him over pretty close to judge if he is worthy of so good a 
girl as Esther.  Our decision is affirmative.  We confidently wish her a happy 
wedded life.  And on his part we congratulate him indeed.  His home will be a 
joy with her to greet him when he comes and speed him when he goes.  May all 
possible good attend them on their life journey.
 
Note:  According to the Western States Marriage Index, Emery J. Henry married 
Esther M. Clark on 9-10-1916, Payette.  ch
