A. Peacock, at which time their daughter, Mary Alice, and Robert Waldo Baldwin of Ontario, Oregon, were united in marriage. The bride wore a gown of white satin mescaline trimmed with pink embroidery and beads. She carried a bridal bouquet of pink and cream rosebuds. The groom was dressed as convention dictates. The ceremony, performed by Rev. Ford Burtch, pastor of the Baptist church, was witnessed by a few of the intimate relatives and friends of the bride and groom. After the congratulations, the bridal pair and guests repaired to the dining room and enjoyed a bountiful repost provided by the parents of the bride. The newly wedded pair departed on the late evening train for Everett, Wash. where they will make their home. Proof of the popularity of the young married couple was in evidence in the throng of Fruitland and Ontario people who gathered at the station, even at so late an hour, to bid the departing ones "God Speed." A few mistakes enlivened the occasion. The bride and groom became so engrossed in saying 'good bye' at the train steps, that No. 5, which they were intending to take departed without them. No 19 arrived alongside in a few minutes however, and averted a castrophe. Another surprise was landed a few minutes after, for the astonished porter of No 19 thought he must have landed somewhere in France, when he received the old shoe, hurled after the young couple and intended for them. After many laughs, the good-byes, some smiley and some fearful, were said, and the lights of No. 19 vanished in the distance. Their many friends send with them loving, well wishes. -- By one who was there. Note: According to Payette County Marriage Records, Robert Baldwin married Alice Peacock on 10-20-1918, Fruitland. ch File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/id/payette/vitals/marriages/peacock249gmr.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/idfiles/ File size: 2.6 Kb
