NEW PLYMOUTH WEDDING
 
Miss Shawhan Married to Thomas E. Jones of Clay Center, Kan.
 
New Plymouth, Idaho, Nov. 18 --(Special) A charming home wedding took place 
this morning under the parental roof of Captain J. H. Shawhan of southwest 
boulevard.  The occasion was the nuptials of Mr. Thomas Ellis Jones of Clay 
Center, Kan., and Miss Bess I. Shawhan of New Plymouth.
 
A beautiful alter had been erected in the spacious parlor, and the bride 
attired in a rich bridal robe, with moonstone ornaments, was led to it by her 
father.  Here she was met by the bridegroom and Rev. A. O. Worthing of 
Payette.  The ceremony was performed according to the Episcopal ritual.
 
After the happy couple had received the congratulations of many friends 
present all adjourned to the dining room where an elegant breakfast was served.
 
The presents were numerous and costly.
 
At 1 o'clock the bridal party departed for Clay Center, the home of the groom, 
and former home of the bride where they will be at home to their friends after 
December 15th.
 
Among the invited guests were:  Mesdames Chase and Loveland and Ette, Messrs. 
Chase, Loveland, Rider, Grothe, Dr. Hamilton, Miss Coughanour, Miss Grothe and 
Miss Tina Grothe of Payette, Mr. and Mrs. D. W. Ross and Miss Inez Spofford of 
Boise, Mrs. Pickering, Mr. and Mrs. B. P. Shawhan, Miss Shaw, Mr. R. Shaw of 
New Plymouth and Miss Gertrude and Mr. Glenn Shawhan of Weiser.

Note:  According to the Western States Marriage Index, Thomas Ellis Jones 
married Bess Irene Shawhan on 11-18-1897. ch
