Owen Mason was found dead on the floor of his room in the Colorado house, in this city, at 7 o"clock last Sunday morning, by one of the other lodgers; and, inasmuch as the indications were that no one had been present when the unfortunate man breathed his last, Coroner Charles J. Walker was notified. During the investigation which followed the coroner questioned R. B. Feltner, Albert Barsch, and John Williams, and from these sources it appeared that mason was a victim of lung trouble, with which he had suffered seriously for some time. With the assistance of Dr. W. H. Wilson, Coroner Walker subsequently examined the remains and decided that an inquest was unnecessary. An autopsy was held, however, at H. E. Hunt & Company's morgue, during which it was determined that death was due to pulmonary tuberculosis. In efforts to learn what should be done with the remains the coroner learned that mason had been wiring his brother-in-law, Charles H. Randayys, at Bremerton, Wash., asking to be taken home, inasmuch as he was growing weaker from his illiness. In response to these messages the brother-in-law had started for Twin Falls last Saturday for the purpose of taking Mason home. He arrived here Monday evening on this mission without knowing that death had overtaken his relative, and was first informed of the fact here by strangers. While it was intended at first to ship the remains to Bremerton for interment in the family burial plot, it was later decided to hold the funeral here Tuesday afternoon, Rev. H. W. Parker officiating. J. Owen Mason was 25 years of age and had been here seeking health since last September.
