Padget, who was about 60 Years of age and had been a resident of this valley for a good many years, was found dead at Castleford, in Cassia county, by L.A. Gordy, on the morning of the 3rd. He had started over to Cedar creek the morning of the 2nd for a load of posts. He reached Castleford that night and camped. It is 25 miles from here and is the only place where a person can get down to the Salmon river for water, and it appeared that in the morning he took his horses down the trail to water and in coming back he was riding one and leading the other, and in some way he was thrown off. One leg was broken between the ankle and knee and the sharp edges of the broken bone cut the arteries of the leg and he bled to death. He was alone, but dragged himself to the top of the hill, where he was found by Mr. Gordy before the body was cold. He was buried in the 100F cemetery on the 4th. Additional Comments: Life could be rugged during the early days in what is now Twin Falls County. With a sparse population limited to horses, The man who traveled alone could die or be killed and no one would fine his body for several days.
