Erickson, 76, of Yellow Pine, who died Sunday in a Boise hospital following a long illness, will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at McBratney-Alden-Waggoner Chapel by the Rev. Rufus Cole, minister of Mount Missionary in McCall. Interment will be in Yellow Pine at a later date. Mr. Erickson was born Feb. 4, 1893, at White Cloud, Mich. He came West as a boy and grew up in Box Elder, Mont. He entered the service at Havre, Mont., and served in the U.S. Army in France during World War I. Following the war he moved to North Idaho and worked in the mines. In 1941 he moved to the Big Creek area and worked in the mines in the back country out of Yellow Pine. He had worked at most of the major mines in the area, including Snowshoe, Stibnite, and Cinabar. He also had prospected on his own for several years. In addition, he had served as justice of the peace at Yellow Pine for many years. He moved to Boise in December of 1968 to receive medical treatment and had been residing at the Idaho State Soldiers' Home. He was a member of the Lutheran Church and the Disable American Veterans. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Darrell McGarvey of Myrtle Creek, Ore.; a step-daughter, Mrs. Rose Saleen of Emmett; two step-sons, Leroy McCracken of Albuquerque, N.M., and Edward McCracken of Boise; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
