BACKGROUND EXPLANATION TO BRIDE AND GROOM INDEXES The following sources were extracted to provide the data for both the bride and groom marriage indexes for Valley County: 1. Boise County Marriage Abstracts (Book 1 and Book 2) for the period 1899 - 1912 (Idaho History Library, 979.674, V22M). These comprise the earliest period of recorded marriages prior to the organization of Valley County in 1917. 2. Boise County Marriages 1912 - 1917, were extracted from the Salt Lake City, Utah Family History Center Library Microfilm No. 1420898. 3. Valley County Marriage Register 1917 - 1947. These were extracted from the Salt Lake City, Utah, Family History Center Library Microfilm No. 1502885, and from the original records in the Valley County Building in Cascade, Idaho. It should be noted that for the period beginning in 1948 up to the present, all vital statistics information, including marriages, are kept by the Idaho Deparment of Vital Statistics in Boise, Idaho. These records are not accessible, given privacy restrictions, for indexing for public purposes. The extraction of the Valley County Marriage Register was accomplished by the voluntary efforts of members of the Valley County Genealogical Society under the direction of Bea Snyder. Bear in mind that additional information may be found in the original marriage records, including (in some instances) the place of birth of both parties, ages, prior marriage, divorce and race. Although the process of extracting these records and transcribing them into the present format has been closely monitored, like all such documents, there may be some errors. For legal purposes the original documents should be consulted. Where errors are noted we would appreciate it if you would advise the Valley County Genealogical Society, P.O. Box 606, Cascade, Idaho, so subsequent editions of this collection might be so corrected. For further genealogical information about Valley County we recommend the following publications: 1.
