Matter of a Water Supply to Be Pushed by the Council
 
Weiser, April 6 -- The city council met in regular session last evening.  The 
vote cast at the recent city election was canvassed by the board.  An 
ordinance relating to the voting of bonds was read and action will be taken at 
the next meeting.
 
It is the intention of the council to push the question of a water supply and 
to call for a vote on the matter as soon as possible.
 
Yesterday being the anniversary of Miss Lorena Hixon's birth, a number of her 
friends met at the residence of Mr. ? M. Hixon to celebrate the occasion.  
Those present were:  Misses Lockwood, Richardson, Davis, Anna and Della 
Hawthorn;  Messrs. fuller, Davis, Walker, Hixon, Galey, Galloway and Stuart.  
The rooms and tables were decorated with roses, carnations, smilax and ferns.  
Progressive crokinole was played.  Refreshments were served at 11 o'clock, 
after which  Misses Davis, Hanthorn and Hixon and Mr. Davis rendered several 
musical selections.  The first prize, gentleman's was won by Mr. Galey; 
ladies, Miss Richardson; gentlemen's booby, Mr. Hixon; ladies, Miss Hanthorn.
 
Mrs. Fergus Foster and two children, wife of Mr. Foster, of the steam laundry, 
arrived from the east yesterday.  They have leased the Verbeck residence.
 
J. J. Heatley and wife will leave next week for Portland.  Mr. Heatley will 
look out for a business location.
 
Mrs. John Baker of Cambridge, is in the city visiting Mrs. Fred Kirgis.
 
Lewis Hull, Sr., president of the P. & I. N. railroad, is expected here next 
week.
