A letter from Lardo dated Sept. 3d, says there is some excitement there, caused by settlers of Long Valley trying to drive the sheep men out of the country. Nine of the “natives” waited on a herder who is in charge of the sheep of Mr. Butterfield, of Weiser, on the night of the 2d and gave him 24 hours to leave the valley, but on account of his being alone and without horses, they prolonged the time to two days. The letter indicates that subsequent proceedings were liable to be of a very interesting character.
