Weiser, April 10 -- The time for work to commence under the franchise granted 
to William Pollman of Baker City having expired without the terms thereof 
having been compiled with the city council has notified him to appear May 2 
and show cause why the same should not be annulled.  The council has also 
appointed a committee to take up the matter of buying a chemical engine.
 
A little son of I. F. Smith is quite sick.
 
A. G. Butterfield is putting up a new house on his ranch.
 
John Green, a rancher living on Dead Ox flat, was badly cut a few days ago by 
a disc-harrow.  The team became frightened and threw him in front of the 
knives.
 
Weiser, April 11 -- O. M. Harvey and Frank Smith have gone into the abstract 
business.
 
Miss Ethel Ashley entertained friends last evening, progressive krokinole 
furnishing the amusement.
