H. Harris, a splinter over an inch long that had been imbedded in his thigh for nearly five years. There are no new developments in the horse stealing cases. A number of warrants have been issued but for some unexplained reason none of them have been served. Dr. Green, a prominent dentist of Grangeville, is in the city, the guest of Dr. Lee of the academy. The first regular services of the Methodist Episcopal church will be held at the opera house Sunday, February 17, 1901, at 11 a.m. G. C. Finley is pushing the work on the laundry addition to the creamery as fast as the weather will permit. The laundry building will be 24x60 with an office 16x16 on the end. The machinery has been ordered, and will be shipped as soon as the building is ready to receive it. Mr. Finley has been meeting with much encouragement and is satisfied that both the creamery and laundry will start out with a paying custom. The laundry will start in about four weeks and the creamery in about 60 days. J. H. Bramwell of the Oregon Sugar company of LaGrande, Ore., is in the city. He is try to arrange with our ranchmen to raise sugar beets for his refinery at LaGrande. The company will pay producers $4 per ton for beets on the cars at Weiser. The yield is estimated at 35 tons per acre. The latest industrial enterprise to be inaugurated in Weiser, and which will be completed in about four months, is a 50 ton (about 100 gallons per day) plant for the manufacture of brandy and wines from fruits. The plant will cost about $12,000. About $6000 has been subscribed by citizens of Weiser.
