Mr. and Mrs. Kimbrough, Mrs. Lane and Mrs. Gorrie left for the Portland carnival today. Mrs. Crane, national organizer of the W. C. T. U. will speak in the Congregational church tomorrow and Friday evenings. The high school and academy will meet in the gridiron Saturday afternoon -- the first game of the season. Much interest is being taken in football this season. About 40 saddle horses were bought here yesterday, intended for the British army. The average price paid was $30. A jury was empaneled this morning in the Copper King case, wherein John Ross contests the right of Andrew Adams, T. T. Drake and Henry Fruth, deceased, to that property in the Seven Devils. But little headway was made in the case today.
