D. H. Kerfoot has engaged in the purchase of horses destined for cavalry use in South Africa. William Perrill, the Council attorney and real estate man, returned home this morning. The Eastern Star chapter elected officers last evening as follows: Worthy Matron, Mrs. G. M. Waterhouse; patron, E. H. Galey; associate matron, Mrs. W. L. Anderson; conductress, Miss Mary Taylor; associate conductress, Miss Lulu Jackson; treasurer, Mrs. Morris Sommer; secretary, Miss Carrie Taylor. At the free ferry mass meeting last evening the following committee was appointed to investigate the cost and find a suitable site: Dr. Foreman, D. A. Ulter, Dr. Davis of Weiser, and Messrs. Patch and Green of the Oregon side.
